Ashtead’s UK business trades under the A-Plant name and rents a broad range of equipment, principally to general industrial and construction orientated customers. A-Plant operates 194 profit centres and serves a more mature market in the UK where rental penetration is estimated at 80%.
In October 2006 we acquired Lux Traffic Controls in the UK. Lux’s network of 44 locations has been integrated fully with A-Plant and we have already achieved significant back office cost savings. The acquisition formed part of our strategic plan to develop our Specialist Product Division and delivered a market leading position in the UK traffic systems rental market.
